Morgan's reactive
Morgan is a cyclist who rides mostly on the road. He wanted a bike that was nervous and responsive without sacrificing comfort, which he may have lacked during some previous cyclosportives. Together we have achieved a timeless road bike, from the Columbus Life tube series.
At a time when the major manufacturers are tending to abandon rims braking, we, at Victoire, wish to continue to offer this system which is not lacking in advantages and which is still appreciated by many cyclists. This is the case with Morgan: the Victoire 474 is therefore fitted with Campagnolo Record calipers.
The frame was made from hydroformed tubes from the Columbus Life series, with a T47 format bottom bracket. It is a question of choices allowing to gain in rigidity and thus in rendering. This Victoire also includes the internal passage of cables and sheaths, which make it possible to lighten the line of the bike but also to protect the cables. Morgan has finally made the choice of stainless steel bars on its head tube, which prevent the friction of the sheaths that won't wear down the finish of the Victoire over time.
For his Victoire, Morgan set his sights on the Record group of the Italian supplier Campagnolo. Its platter is a 50-34 format, while the cassette is an 11-29. It is a versatile ratio, allowing to face many different profiles.
The wheels of the Victoire 474 are Open pro Carbon, hand-mounted in the workshop. They come from Mavic, an equipment manufacturer with whom we are used to working, whose head office is located in Annecy.
Morgan's wheels are shod with Continental Grand Prix 5000 tires, which come from Germany. These are 28, maximum section usable with calipers.
US supplier Chris King has been chosen for Morgan's headset. These sets of directions are imperishable and participate in our desire to create bikes that do not fear the years. These are also guaranteed for life by the manufacturer.
With the exception of the headset, the Victoire 474 is made from 100% European materials and parts. Saddle, seat post, stem and handlebar are of Italian origin, supplied by the Fizik brand.
The finish of Morgan's bike, which includes fork and stem, is made up of three metallic shades arranged in gradient. The case and the bases are painted with an anthracite gray, taken over by a white which extends to the bottom of the fork. Finally, the front is painted with a red which includes the stem and the upper part of the fork, integrating them into the visual line of the bike. On the seat tube, the Victoire number, the series of tubes used as well as the people. intervening on the bike are visible. This is a branding included with our new graphic identity.
Now here's the feedback of Morgan, which immediatly tested his bike just after he picked it up at the workshop :
He is reactive and nervous at will, just as I had dreamed of ! The braking is powerful and precise, I love it, and above all, it's a bike that doesn't tire the body. I feel very comfortable and I took pleasure in swallowing the slopes and the kilometers.
«After a 150km cyclosportive with 500M raising profil at the end of which I had back pain and knee pain, I said to myself that I had to go for tailor-made.»
Morgan took his Victoire to the beaches of Normandy this weekend, after riding it on a track near our workshop just after delivery.
Thank you again to the whole team for this little gem, and more particularly to those who worked on my bike, whose names I proudly wear on my frame.
