José’s comfortable everyday bike
José has been a professional basketball player for 12 years. He was looking for a bike to get to the office and to enjoy the hilly paths surrounding Lyon. José is 2 meters tall with a 98cm inseam. He could not find a standard bike that fits his size, let alone one with a comfortable riding position. This is why he was experiencing pain in the back and knees while riding. We managed to build together with José a bike that fits, comfortable and efficient, which borrows from both city and mountain bikes.
The tubes on José's bike feature a large diameter. For example the downtube measures 44mm. Tubes’ thickness is also increased. As the weight of the frame is not a determining factor for handling, reliability was the top priority.
osé wanted to use his bike every day, so we created an understated and efficient setup, to ride both on roads and paths. The new WTB Venture tires are perfect for this mixed use, with their small central studs that form an efficient tread.
We opted for MTB gearing in order to obtain the big range needed to tackle all the area’s climbs easily.
The bike is equipped with lights powered by a dynamo hub, so it can be seen at all times.
I felt like I was riding a bike for the first time! Everything feels easy, and my pain in the back and knees is gone.
