Style and performance

Marcus is part of cyclists who "spend a lot of time on the saddle" : daily, to commute to work, but also to ride around Stockholm where he lives. He also takes part to several Swedish race :  Vätternrundan (300k), Siljan Runt (160k) or Cykelvasan (MTB, 94k), and rode L'Etape du Tour in 2015 and 2016.

He discovered our work through the collections of Café du Cycliste. He was looking for a fast and comfortable bespoke stainless road bike for his daily commutes and long distance rides. The style was also important for him : Marcus wanted a bike with a classic aesthetic and modern parts, like the hydraulic disc brakes and the 1x11 drivetrain. The Véloce 953 built for the Rapha Pop-Up store in Paris in 2015   was a reference for the finishing of this one, with a mix of colored clear coat on the front triangle and raw stainless chainstays and seatstays.

The frame

The frame is built from Reynolds 953 stainless steel tubing. The top tube is 31.7mm diameter with an oval shape on the whole length. The down tube in 35mm is the lightest reference in Reynolds range with a 0.35mm thickness at the center. The 28.6mm seat tube with a constant diameter is new. It provides a better flexibility than the conical 28.6/31.7mm version. The 16mm seatstays are also a good way to increase the comfort, like the chainstays in 410mm, that are a bit longer than a full performance road bike.

Marcus only rode a few kilometers with his bespoke road bike but he was surprised by the handling :

I did my first ride with my Véloce and it felt so good : it is faster than I thought ! It will be a perfect set up for my daily commutes and my training rides.
