GENESIS

Cyclist for more than 20 years, Jean-Pierre combines rides with his club mates and long distance randonnées. He took part into a lot of brevets, but also events like Paris-Brest-Paris and Bordeaux-Paris

Sharing, meeting and friendships are the most important values in cycling for him. By the way, it is impossible to speak about Jean-Pierre without mentionned his friend Alain. They paid their first visit to us together. After we spoke for hours about their experience and their needs, they decided to trust in us for their bespoke bike project. They lived together this adventure.

Specification

Jean-Pierre has already ridden handcrafted bicycles and has been well awared of the qualities of steel. He was looking for a bike both comfortable and performant, with rim brakes. He also decided to for a stainless steel frame to make his bike even more timeless.

The frame

Jean-Pierre is pretty tall, so we selected the XCR range from Columbus that offers larger diameter tubing than the 953 from Reynolds. Like that we could adjust the frame handling to the morphology and the riding of our client. The seat tube is pretty high so we used conical seatstays with a 19mm diameter on their upper end in order to add lateral stiffness.

The equipement

Jean-Pierre selected a SRAM Red 22 groupset with 48/36 chainrings and a 11-23 cassette. The wheels were laced in house with Chris King R45 hubs and Mavic Open Pro rims.

FUTURE PROJECTS

We shared with Jean-Pierre his shakedown ride around our workshop. He will fly soon to Mallorca for a week of sunny riding to start his training for Paris-Brest-Paris 2019.
