FRANCIS' VICTOIRE VERSUS

FRANCIS' VICTOIRE VERSUS

THE PROJECT

At the beginning of 2016, we delivered Rémi’s Versus, co-founder Café du Cycliste and his dad Paul-Louis. This is how Francis discovered Victoire.

I was instantly a fan of these bikes. Shortly after, 200 published an article about the concours de machines which you won with your 2016 randonneuse. After that, I decided to contact you. You are young local frame builders with a different perpective on bikes so I was convinced I wanted to start my project with you.

Francis wanted a versatile, sporty bike, that he could use to travel light.

TECHNICAL CHOICES

The frame was made from Reynolds 853 tube serie. It can have 700x400c tires for all roads use. The frame options are a classic setup for our clients, with a flatmount disc brake, internal cables routing, mudguard and luggage carrier mounts. Francis had three esthetic requests. The first was a curved seat tube. This allowed us to make a more reagent back and release more tire clearance. Then, he wanted a high slopping so we used the extra space for a bike packing saddle bag for futur travels. Lastly, he wanted a personalized paint with a blue/grey tint. After discussing, he chose to peint the whole bike, frame, fork and stem for a nice uniform result. As a Shimano user, Francis wished to keep this brand and chose a hydraulic disc brake Ultegra group with a Rotor 3D30 crankset. Thomson stem and seat post, Fisik handlebar, Brooks Cambium saddle and bar tape, 20Five Hope wheels with Compass Bon Jon tubeless tires and Look pedals.;

BIKE REVEAL

Francis discovered his bike in our workshop during his lunch brake. The expression on his face speaks volumes on this special long-awaited moment.

I am moved, it is wonderful.

FIRST RIDE

Francis first ride on his new Victoire bike was rainy. We went on our classic lunch brake ride with another client, Etienne. After one month riding his bike, Francis told us his impressions :

I am still feeling the same as I was when I came one month ago, I am on cloud-nine ! My versus is the best of both worlds. Off-road, I get the same feelings as 25 years ago when I was riding on stiff cross-country bike (I had a tange steel Mountain Marin Pine) and my bike stays fast when I ride on asphalt. Downhill and on harsh roads, it is even more confortable than my Look : confort, stability, road handling, braking. Rides are nice and smooth now, it can bring me far in my bike packing travels projects. Now, I go for rides multiple times a day. I come back from work and I jump on my Victoire ! Pure joy !
