Eric's Victoire Veloce
Eric's Victoire Veloce
Eric rides mainly in the Alps where he lives. He rides about 4500km per year. Being the owner of a Pinarelo Quattro, he was looking for the same comfort as the one he could experienced on his first steel bike in the 2000s. He described his carbon bike as "too stiff" and it became difficult for him to ride more than 100km without any pain. Our client wanted to enjoy riding long-distances again, notably by optimising his position. His bespoke bike had to be comfortable while being performant in the mountains.
To meet these requirements, we selected Columbus HSS tubings. We designed a stiff front triangle coupled with a short rear one for more responsiveness. The BSC bottom bracket links the two parts. The smaller diameter brings flexibility, making it more tolerant than a PF30 of T47 standard. The seatstays, due to their small diameter as well, absorb shocks and asperities, therefore contributing to a greater comfort. The seat tube is from the Spirit range, to make the bike lighter. It is designed to fit a 27.2mm seatpost, more comfortable than the original HSS for 31.7mm seatpost. The Paragon 3D dropouts complete the set. They allow a nicer junction between the chainstays and the seatstays, and the interchangeable derailleur hanger is very interesting in the case of a fall. The cables are internally routed and the frame has been painted with 3 colours and a ceramic varnish.
Eric could enjoy a first 80km ride directly after he received his bike. He shares his feeling with us:
The bike is magnificient. The colours match perfectly the Chris King Mango components. Besides actually being very light, it feels even lighter! First thing that came to my mind after the first laps was: what a comfortable bike ! My position is good and the frame filters the road's asperities remarkably. The bike is responsive. The wheels' functionning is extremely fluid, it is a pleasure in the climbs. The wheelset made of Corima 32mm rims and Chris King hubs is truly surprising! When I go downhill, we gain speed extremely quickly but the bike is really stable and easy to handle.
Regarding the components, the Fizik Antares saddle brings comfort considerably. The compact handlebar is pleasant especially on the drop. Overall, I'm really satisfied both by the bike and by the Victoire's team support throughout the process. Thanks everyone!
