Genesis

Denis discovered cycling 15 years ago, on the foothills of Etna, in Sicilia :

It was hard but absolutely great ! The contact with nature, the journey, I liked it. I also realized that cycling is a team sport. There is friendship, by all the discussions you can have on the bike, but the group is also important to achieve the difficult moments.

Lover of bespoke pieces - he has a collection of guitars - Denis wanted a unique bicycle. After a first experience with titanium, he decided to go for steel after he discovered our work.

Specification

I was looking for a light bicycle, that climbs well. The Véloce made for the 2015 Rapha Pop-Up Store as well as the Ventoux project with L’Acheteur Cycliste were two references for me.

We selected Columbus XCR stainless steel tubing with a hydroformed front end for more reactivity. The use of a seat tube for 28.6 mm seat post as well as a BSA bottom bracket allows to increase comfort and save weight.

Denis paid a lot of attention to the aesthetic of his bicycle, going for 3D dropouts and internal routing. The paint scheme is inspired from Rapha’s Véloce

The equipment

Denis wanted to use most of European parts. The Campagnolo Super Record groupset comes from Italia, whereas the THM fork and crankset are made in Germany, like the Lightweight wheels he plans to use. Despite the large size, the bike only weighs 7.6 kg.

Denis is now ready to climb the most famous French cols : Ventoux, Télégraphe and Galibier are scheduled in 2018.
