The project

Riding MTB for 20 years - "when the suspension did not exist" - Christophe was convinced by our philosophy :

I have been interested by the material. Steel suits well my riding. Moreover the French craftmanship and the custom made fabrication - both for the geometry, the style and the equipment - were also important for me.

Christophe initially wanted to go for a 29er MTB with a Rohloff and drive-belt drivetrain, and aimed for a european build, like Vincent's MTB with Pinion gearbox.  However, the lead time enabled Christophe to think over his project. He discovered during this time the 27.5+ :

I was impressed by the motricity, the comfort and the downhill skills of this size.  It offers a large versatility, so I wanted to go for it on my Victoire MTB but I also wanted to adapt 29" wheels when I want. For the drivetrain, I eventually go for a  SRAM Eagle GX 12 speeds groupset, which offers a large range of ratio.

The design

This MTB is based on our 29er model but there is more clearance for the Plus size : it is up to 27.5x2.8 and 2.4 with 29" wheels. The Paragon Sliding dropouts enable to adjust the chainstay length according to the wheel size and to adapt the bike handling. The frame is made of Columbus 29er tubing, a special serie of the Zona range with diameter and thickness adapted to MTB. The down tube is bended to avoid any contact with the Formula Selva fork crown, which is wider thanks to the Boost standard. The seat tube fits a Rock Shox Reverb hydraulic dropper post. The internal routing goes from the downtube to the seat tube. The bottom bracket is a T47 to provide more stiffness. The final weight is 11,6kg with 29" wheels and 12,3kg with 27.5+.

Christophe wanted a clean finish. The frame gets a gloss black with a mat Victoire logo in contrast.
