The project

Owner of an aluminium bespoke bicycle for 12 years, André contacted us for a new project :

I was looking for a more comfortable bike, that would filter better the road bumps and would be able to go on unpaved roads. I had a look at the steel bicycle builders and Victoire was the one who suited the best my needs.

Specification

To get a comfortable frame, we work on two factors : the position and the sizing of the tubing.

For the first one,  we did a fitting in our workshop, during almost 3h. It is not just about taking measurement : we take into account the riding, the experience and the future projects of our clients to fit the position of his future Victoire. At the end of this step, we get the position of his three contact points : saddle, pedals and handlebar. Then, we designed around them the geometry of his Versus, to get a bike well balanced both in the aesthetic and the handling. The man and the bike then become one and connected with the road.

The choice of the tubing is also important, that's why we have several hundreds of references of the most advanced steel. Thanks to our experience of almost 350 bespoke bicycles, we select with care each of the nine tubes of the frame according to their diameter, shape and thickness, in order to get a frame that will suit our client's riding. For André's project, our choice went on Tange Prestige Japan for the front triangle and Columbus Zona for the rear one.

The equipement

The parts are also important in the search of comfort. That's why we made a set of custom steel stem and fork to filter the best road bumps. It is also with this aim that André chose a set of Compass Bon Jon Pass 35mm tires, that will also open him the way to gravel paths.

First impressions and future projects

I wanted a comfortable bike, it is ! The position is way more good than my previous one and the wide tires are a real plus. Among my future projects, I plan to ride around the west of Britanny.
